To extend as well as augment its ongoing efforts at reaching out to its clients and beneficiaries through sustainable, multidisciplinary programs, WII has developed organizational and program-specific web sites. Informative and interactive these websites successfully showcase the development work done by WII in its various program areas and projects. WII’s web sites work as catalysts to networking various entities crucial to the organization’s mission, resulting in enhanced grassroots level cooperation, better partnerships and larger benefits to society.
WII conceptualizes, develops and manages its web sites in-house. Its inherent experience and understanding of the development sector gives it the added advantage of working well with both content and design, which demonstrate the use of the web as a potent medium for effective communication, in today's shrinking world.
Both, WII’s own web sites and those it created for its clients (eg, IRENet and the Royal Government of Cambodia) have been developed and managed in-house. WII’s Outreach and ICT staff is constantly gathering information from across the represented program area, or project. They review the material for quality of information, filter it to the appropriate form, rewrite and edit where necessary, collect pictures or create appropriate images, develop the pages, and upload. They update files regularly, and troubleshoot if web problems arise. So that in the end WII has a healthy, vital and highly informative web site.
WII’s web sites fulfill the following goals:
- Serve as a reference point for funding agencies in India and abroad to facilitate evaluation of projects and allocation of funds
- Evolve as a platform for bringing entrepreneurs and funding agencies together
- Facilitate technology transfers
- Forge new partnerships and alliances to increase reach and collaborate on projects
- Serve as a fountainhead of information on various subjects related to the above core function areas to enable end-user involvement through interactions in the long run
- Updates on the latest technologies in the sectors of renewable energy, agriculture, forests and natural resources
- Project networking capabilities of the organization, and aid networking amongst entities crucial to WII
