Starting with two newsletters (REPSOVision and Cane Cogen India) in 1997/98, the Outreach team now brings out several more like (Resource, The BEE, Biofuels India, HFCC Bulletin and Inform) in addition to a wide variety of publications comprising field reports, conference proceedings, and books. Its quarterly newsletters reach over 10,000 organizations and renewable energy professionals around the world.

Our publications have established themselves as dependable documents on a variety of issues ranging from technology and financing to policies and program implementation. Many of our publications are available free on request while others are priced reasonably. See brief descriptions of the newsletters below.

  ACT (Active Conservation Techniques): WII prepares the ACT Journal on behalf of the Petroleum Conservation Research Association (PCRA). The basic aim of the journal is to raise awareness on the latest conservation techniques, R&D efforts, and energy-efficient technologies at both national and international levels, especially in the oil sector. The journal largely covers issues pertaining to industrial, transport, commercial and domestic sectors - wherever oil is used. It also showcases PCRA’s research and outreach efforts, and demonstration projects in this area.

  RepsoVision: Learn about renewable energy commercialization:
The REPSOVision newsletter was launched in October 1997 under USAID's Renewable Energy Commercialization (RECOMM) project in India. It has been successfully carrying out the function of disseminating information on, and creating awareness about renewable energy in India quite effectively. At present, the newsletter reaches all the stakeholders in the renewable energy sector (manufacturers, NGOs, energy service companies, consultants, developers, equipment suppliers/distributors, R&D/ academic institutions, government organizations, financiers, trade organizations, bilaterals, multilaterals, etc) and the media, including professionals/organizations in India and abroad.

 Cane Cogen India: Window to cogeneration in sugar industry
Cane Cogen India: The first newsletter of its kind, was launched in October 1998 under USAID's Greenhouse Gas Pollution Prevention (GEP) Project's Alternative Bagasse Cogeneration component to disseminate information on the demonstration and commercialization of high-efficiency cogeneration in sugar mills utilizing bagasse and other alternative biomass fuels, rather than fossil fuels, for year-round operation. Articles focus on technical, financing and policy issues with illustrative case studies from India and abroad, and on the dual benefits of utilizing alternative biomass fuels - electricity export and carbon dioxide mitigation.

  Resource: A Renewable Energy Education and Capacity Building Initiative
REsource is a newsletter exclusively on renewable energy for secondary level students and teachers. It disseminates information on the achievements and milestones in the sector with interesting case studies from India and abroad. This was launched in 1999 as the first of its kind focusing exclusively on renewable energy for schools. The aim was to focus on the use and potential of clean renewable energy technologies that provide heat and light to rural and urban areas around.

 BEE: Bulletin on Energy Efficiency
The Bulletin of Energy Efficiency (BEE) is a newsletter specifically devoted to energy efficiency issues and practices across sectors ranging from the factory to the fields, the hotel to homes, transport to tools. Energy use is an integral part of human life, whether the poor or the rich, and both social and economic development are directly dependent on its efficient use. How? This 28-page bi-monthly newsletter provides the answers. Launched in July 2000, the BEE fully serves its objective of creating awareness about and promoting energy efficiency through thought-provoking and well-researched articles under a broad spectrum of heads such as Case Studies, Policy, Opinion, Industry Profile, Financing, and Technology, written by highly experienced and eminent authorities in these areas.

  Biofuels India: Information journal on renewable fuels
The Biofuels newsletter is aimed at creating awareness among the various stakeholders (oil, auto, distillery industries, the government, environmental and agricultural sectors) about renewable fuels (ethanol and biodiesel), and to provide a common platform for them to discuss various issues which remain to be resolved. Topics highlighted cover technology, financing, policy, fuel production, preparation, categorization, supply and pricing, marketing, taxation, along with viewpoints from all the sectors involved. The ultimate aim is to promote the use of ethanol and biodiesel as environmental-friendly fuels, which can be actively used as blends in the transport sector.

  Inform: e-newsletter and printed version on Participatory Forestry Management
INFORM the electronic bulletin (and now in printed form) on participatory forest management, is published quarterly and distributed free by RUPFOR (Resource Unit for Participatory Forestry set up at Winrock International India). By disseminating information on various issues of JFM in India, INFORM aims to establish the vital link between policy makers and the field. The interactive newsletter promotes exchange of ideas and knowledge in this area by carrying opinions from experts. It focuses not only on issues that are general to participatory forestry management in India, but also debates and addresses emerging issues in this field.

  Renewable Energy India: First Indian magazine dedicated to the green energy sector
Jointly published by Solar Energy Society of India and Winrock International India, Renewable Energy India magazine focuses on all aspects of renewable energy sector - policy, finance, technology, business opportunities, case histories, etc. The mission of the magazine is "to create a forum or a discussion platform for free and independent exchange of ideas and views on renewable energy amongst the policy makers, project promoters, equipment suppliers, financiers, and technologists." Renewable Energy India strives to create a high level of awareness of RE options and initiatives in India and across the globe, along with highlighting key current issues on RE. The magazine covers successful initiatives and case histories in the sector. Apart from purely technical articles, the magazine also carries interviews of eminent people in the industry and views of experts in the sector.

  SARI/Energy Small Grants
Under USAID's SARI/Energy Small Grants program launched recently, we are pleased to announce the introduction of this newsletter. It will be a source of regular information on developments in the SARI/Energy program in general, and the Small Grants Program in particular. It will strive to address the common problems and challenges facing the energy sector in the South Asia region, and will carry reports on various activities being implemented. We invite you all to contribute to this newsletter and send your feedback so that we can improve it further and keep our mailing list updated.

  Hydrogen and Fuel Cells Cooperation: (HFCC Bulletin) - First ever periodical in India in this area

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID), the National Energy Technology Laboratory (NETL), USA, and Winrock International India (WII) are jointly producing this technical bulletin under the US-India Clean Energy Initiative. The objective of the bulletin is to create awareness about the development and use of hydrogen as a potential source of clean energy across the world, with specific focus on the activities under the cooperation between the United States and India in this field.
