Winrock International India (WII) is a premier national level NGO working in the area of sustainable development, specifically in the field of energy & environment, natural resources management and climate change. WII is headquartered in New Delhi, having offices in Lucknow (UP), Kawardha (Chhattisgarh), Bhopal (Madhya Pradesh), and Tawang (Arunachal Pradesh).
The Biodiversity and Conservation group of WII works on issues that interface between conservation and people's livelihoods. The goal is to find solutions where conservation is seen as beneficial to immediate stakeholders and livelihood opportunities are linked to a healthy natural resource base. WII covers policy related work, research studies for better understanding of situations, awareness creation as well as field based implementation projects to demonstrate innovative ideas in practice.
The Biodiversity and Conservation group of WII is looking for two interns to work on field based medicinal plants project in Arunachal Pradesh. The assignment will be of three months duration. The work will involve travel to the community forest areas of 14 selected villages and carrying out vegetation studies using quadrat sampling. The work will also involve conducting house hold surveys in each of these villages. The assignment involves trekking in the Eastern Himalayas along with travel and living in these villages. All travel, lodging and boarding expenses will be covered. This is a field based position.
