The Department for International Development (DFID) of the UK selected a forestry expert from WII to be a team member for assessment of the above project.

WII’s objective was to promote participatory management systems and contribute towards sector reforms. Activities included field visits, literature review, focus group discussions with local community members in Himachal Pradesh, meetings with government offices and production of an Impact Assessment Report.

The Impact Assessment Report was used to steer the project to overcome weaknesses and in preparing a Forest Sector Review of the state.
