Background
The Ecosystem Services for Poverty Alleviation (ESPA) program is jointly funded by a consortium of UK research council donors: the Department for International Development (DfID), Natural Environment Research Council (NERC) and the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC). It examines the challenges to the sustainable management of ecosystems for maximizing poverty alleviation.
Concluding Remarks
The final consultation workshop was organized by WII, which got together a select group of policy and opinion makers interested in working across the themes of ecosystem services and poverty reduction. These were encouraged to contribute suggestions to the design of a program of research in the South Asian region, which is currently in the scoping phase prior to an anticipated call for future collaborative Indo-UK research (ESPA). r> |
