The overall objective of the RE-IMPACT project is to help meet the economic, social and environmental demands placed on forests at local, national and global levels.
More specific objectives of the RE-IMPACT project were to provide, test and implement planning and impact assessment methodologies which help address the economic, social and environmental demands placed on forests at local, national and global levels. The improved impact assessment methodologies will address the above issues in a scientifically-rigorous yet practical and cost efficient way.
In India, WII has developed and tested a Social Impact Assessment (SIA) methodology to help assess the socio economic impacts of bioenergy plantations. Beyond the tool itself, this approach was developed into teaching material that was imparted to graduate and postgraduate students from allied subjects at the University of Makerere in Kampala, Uganda as part of a set of modules developed under the project. |
