Access to energy is central to economic development and to the well being and prosperity of the population. For remote areas that are deprived, provision of energy services would not only stimulate regional development but also open up income generation opportunities and improvement in the quality of life in general. WII is undertaking a detailed mapping of the various issues on this subject. The outcome of the study is expected to help the British High Commission in identifying key areas/actions for increasing access, where the development assistance under the Global opportunity Fund (GOF) could be directed so as to get maximum results out of the GOF initiative.
