The objectives of the project were to:

• assist the World Bank team in review and monitoring of the implementation of the biodiesel project
• participate in discussions with CTx and Gram Vikas; undertake site visits as appropriate and agreed in consultation with the World Bank; and provide comments and advise on all the project reports prepared by CTx and Gram Vikas.

The major activities included:

• Periodic interaction with the project team to get status update
• Providing technical advice and inputs as appropriate to ensure that project implementation was on schedule and working toward achieving its development objectives
• Field visit and participation in field workshops
• Providing comments on all the project reports prepared by CTx, including reports on resources and needs assessment, pilot plant operations, techno-socio economic assessment of bio-diesel technology and the final completion report.

A number of discussions were held to assess the progress of the project and a field visit was also undertaken to monitor the project at the site. The project ended with a final review meeting held in New Delhi on June 16, 2005. Winrock International India provided various useful suggestions and positive comments to promote this innovative project.
