The objective of the project was to assist in compiling relevant information, by way of a regional paper, that would assist towards the production of a regional policy paper on bio-fuels.
The major activities under the project included:
- To conduct a feasibility study on the production of biofuels in the SADC region, and prepare a Regional Policy Paper (RPP) and a draft for a SADC brochure on biofuels.
- The consultants have evaluated the potential of biofuels production and use in SADC, and the bottlenecks that need to be addressed.
- The consultants have compared the potential of the various energy-crops that grow in the region.
The project has been completed and the report has been accepted by SADC.
