Winrock International India (WII) organized a workshop titled "Capacity Building Workshop for the Financial Sector on Clean Development Mechanism (CDM)" in India on January 25, 2005 at Hyderabad, Andhra Pradesh, India.

The main objective of this workshop was to strengthen systematic, institutional and human capacity in host countries through activities such as:

• Providing information and raising awareness on CDM
• Implementing actions to support institutional networks for CDM
• Contributing to training and human resource development to operationalize CDM
• Supporting CDM project identification, development and implementation activities

The workshop was successfully conducted with participation from various project developers, industries, academic institutes and government departments. Around 50 participants attended the workshop. Printed copies of the workshop proceedings are available with WII.

The CDM Investors’ Guidebook for ICS-CDM Project in India is designed to facilitate CDM project development in India. It provides the necessary information for potential investors, both local and foreign, and thus reduces investment risks. The main focus of the project was to go beyond CO2 guidebooks and present country-specific information regarding CDM projects in India.
