The project objective was to prepare background material on environmental concerns for the Human Development Report (HDR) of the National Territory of Delhi. The project activities included:

• Logical support for the development of indicators (with some known environmental quality indicators) for measuring human development referring to environmental concerns
• Secondary data collection
• Analysis of the data collected
• Submission of draft and final report

The first draft of the report was submitted to the Secretary, Environment and Forests, Delhi Government, in the first week of March 2004. WII received comments from the Delhi Government in the third week of March. Subsequently, the second draft was submitted. The stakeholders meeting on the draft report held in the last week of May 2004, following which the final report submitted to the Delhi Government in the month of June 2004.
