Debajit Das (Senior Program Officer and Group Coordinator, CDM and Environment Management Group) is a B.Tech (Mechanical Engineering) from North Eastern Regional Institute of Science & Technology, Itanagar.  He is a qualified Lead Auditor of ISO 9001:2002 from SGS International Inc. He is also a qualified Energy Auditor as certified by Bureau of Energy Efficiency, India . Debajit was working with National Productivity Council as Deputy Director prior to joining WII.  During his tenure at NPC, he was handling projects of Environment and Energy management both at policy, sectoral and unit level.  He has vast experience of energy audits and handling projects related to air and water pollution, EIA/EMP of thermal/hydel power and other developmental projects and also has got hands on experience in designing and development of Municipality solid waste and Industrial Hazardous waste management system.  At WII he is involved in various assignment of facilitation of CDMable project, energy efficiency and other projects with greenhouse gas reduction potential.


Vivek Mehta (Program Officer) is a Mechanical Engineering Graduate from Delhi College of Engineering. Prior to joining WII, he has worked in the capacity of a Quality Control Engineer in the Energy/Oil & Gas consulting firm – Engineers India Limited. He has also worked as an operations and marketing consultant in the Telecommunications sector and started a services based startup in the same sector. At WII, he is currently working on projects relating to climate change, energy and environment management. He is experienced in working on developing CDM projects based on Renewable Energy Generation, Energy Efficiency in Industries and Refrigeration sector, and Waste Handling and Disposal. He is well versed with the different institutional guidelines and UNFCCC procedures on climate change. Further, he has also worked on core projects based on waste management and renewable energy.

National Communication Project (NATCOM)

Sumana Bhattacharya (Expert Consultant) has been working in the area of global and local environmental issues for more than 12 years in research institutions and with the government, focusing extensively on climate change research. Presently, her major responsibilities include- providing support on methodological and technical issues to the national communication process of India, providing policy support to the MoEF, project preparation, implementation, coordination, project monitoring and evaluation, coordination with bilateral/multilateral and the government agencies, and collaborating/partner institutions. She was one of the Lead Authors in the volumes on Cross Cutting Issues and Agriculture of the IPCC 2006 Guidelines for GHG Inventories, contributed to BASIC project on Adaptation, vulnerability and finance: assessment tools and approaches, and undertook the review of V&A in India in a World Bank supported project. Sumana was working with the National Physical Laboratory, prior to joining the National Communication Project management team of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. She holds a doctoral degree in Physics and has several publications in the form of papers published in national and international journals and books on uncertainty reduction in GHG emission inventory estimates and on Vulnerability and Adaptation issues in India.

Pooja Kotiyal (Program Associate) completed her graduation in Zoology ( Hons. ) from Acharya Narendra Dev College , Delhi University and Post Graduation in Advanced Zoology with specialization in Fisheries Biotechnology from H.N.B. Garhwal University . She worked as a Project Associate with the Ministry of Environment and Forests in the GLOBE (Global Learning and Observation to Benefit our Environment) and NEAC (National Environment and Awareness Campaign) projects. She has also worked as a Research Associate with MNRE in the NNRMS project (National Natural Resource Management System).
