Kalipada Chatterjee (Senior Advisor) has over 30 years of experience in the field of atmospheric sciences particularly in global changes. Prior to joining WII he was heading the Climate Change Centre at Development Alternatives. He has been a member of the Expert Advisory Committee of the Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and full time Consultant to the MoEF on Global Environment Issues.
He has led many representative delegations from India such as representing India as an official member of the Coordinating Committee on the Ozone layer (CCOL) of the UNEP in Nairobi. He was also the leader of the Indian official delegation to the first Asia-Pacific Conference on Climate Change in Japan in 1991. Further he was a member of the monitoring committee of the All India Co-ordinated Project on the impact of sea level rise due to greenhouse-induced global warming along the Indian coasts and islands. He was responsible for organizing the international meetings of select developing countries on global environmental issues and the first Indo-US Workshop on CFC alternatives.
Edited the book, ‘Activities Implemented Jointly (AIJ) to Mitigate Climate Change’ - Proceedings of the first AIJ Conference in January 1997, and co-author of many other books on climate change. He has published more than 60 research papers in several national and international journals and magazines.
Aditi Dass (Group Coordinator, Climate Science
and V&A Group, and Senior Program Officer)
has been working on global and local environmental issues
for over 10 years in research institutions, private
organizations and the government, focusing extensively
on urban transport. Her major responsibilities have
included policy analysis, project monitoring and evaluation,
coordination with national and international funding
agencies, and collaborating/partner institutions. Aditi
was working with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT)
Bangkok, prior to joining WII. She holds a master's
degree in Planning (with specialization in transportation
planning), and a bachelors in Architecture.
Sriskandh Subramanian (Program Officer) holds a bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering from Madras University and a Master’s degree in Environmental Management from Centre for Environmental Studies, Anna University, Chennai. At WII, Sriskandh works on environmental issues like Solid Waste Management and also on CDM Projects.
Amrita Bordoloi (Program Associate) has a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemistry from Delhi University and had done her Master’s degree in Energy Efficiency from University of Petroleum & Energy Studies, Dehradun.
Bindu Joy (Associate – Program Support) is a graduate from Delhi University and has worked with Yogi Associates (Chartered Accountants Firm) and Development Alternatives as Secretary. At WII, she is currently assisting the Climate Change Program in all its programmatic activities.
National Communication Project (NATCOM)
Sumana Bhattacharya (Expert Consultant) has been working in the area of global and local environmental issues for more than 12 years in research institutions and with the government, focusing extensively on climate change research. Presently, her major responsibilities include- providing support on methodological and technical issues to the national communication process of India, providing policy support to the MoEF, project preparation, implementation, coordination, project monitoring and evaluation, coordination with bilateral/multilateral and the government agencies, and collaborating/partner institutions. She was one of the Lead Authors in the volumes on Cross Cutting Issues and Agriculture of the IPCC 2006 Guidelines for GHG Inventories, contributed to BASIC project on Adaptation, vulnerability and finance: assessment tools and approaches, and undertook the review of V&A in India in a World Bank supported project. Sumana was working with the National Physical Laboratory, prior to joining the National Communication Project management team of the Ministry of Environment and Forests. She holds a doctoral degree in Physics and has several publications in the form of papers published in national and international journals and books on uncertainty reduction in GHG emission inventory estimates and on Vulnerability and Adaptation issues in India.
Swati Lal (Project Associate) holds Masters degree in Economics and PGDip. in Industrial Relations and Personnel Management. Her responsibilities include handling cross-functional areas related to project monitoring and management including preparation & maintenance of subcontracts for diverse activities, financial tracking, outreach, publications, management information system and key operations. Prior to joining NATCOM, she has done temporary projects with UNDMT, ANZ Grindlays Bank and UNDP.
