WII specializes in providing training and capacity building services to various stakeholders including policymakers, technocrats, financial institutions, among others in the renewable energy sector. WII in the past has organized several international conferences, seminars, business meets, and training programs across the country.
There is a strong need to encourage promotion of other financial institutions, especially the banks to come forward and lend for promoting renewable energy technologies (RETs).
WII is also working on an all India program focused on the capacity building for lending for solar energy products/projects by commercial banks and financial institutions. The program aims to train bank managers who in turn would lend for solar energy/ products. The program aims at generating additional loans of Rs 750 million for the solar sector.
