Investing in Ourselves: Giving and Fundraising in India provides fundraisers, donors and policy makers with benchmark data on charitable giving in India. Through illustrative case studies of successful fundraising by voluntary organizations, it offers fundraisers and those training fundraisers, different principles and strategies which can be adapted with profit to their own situation.
Written by Ms Pushpa Sundar, Board Member of Winrock International India and Director Emeritus, Sampradaan Indian Centre for Philanthropy (SICP), the book was launched by Ms Shabana Azmi, popular actress and Member of Parliament, on August 31, 2001, at the India Habitat Centre, in the presence of eminent invitees representing voluntary organizations, corporate houses, the government, and media. The book is an outcome of the project 'Investing in Ourselves', a seven-country exercise undertaken by the Asia Pacific Philanthropy Consortium (APPC), and was published as part of the ongoing efforts of SICP to increase public awareness, and to promote plural sources of support for those engaged in social action for the public good.
