Background
SIDBI is implementing a multi agency / multi activity Project on Financing and Development of SMEs (SMEFDP). While SIDBI has been assigned with the responsibility of implementing the project, the Banking Division of Ministry of Finance, Government of India is the nodal agency for the same. DFID UK, the World Bank, KfW Germany and GTZ Germany are the international partners in the Project.

The Project was aimed at making MSME lending an attractive and viable financing option as also facilitate increased turnover and employment in the sector. In order to achieve its aims, the Project, besides upgrading direct flow of credit to MSMEs, addressed demand side issues of credit and streamlining access to qualitative financial and non-financial enterprise oriented services. SIDBI has taken initiative for knowledge dissemination to Indian MSMEs on energy efficiency areas.
 
Objectives
One important objective of SMEFDP was to carry out primary and secondary research and publish three handbooks on housekeeping measures for improving Energy Efficiency of MSMEs in Engineering, Foundry and Ceramic sectors.

Activities

  • Pre audit awareness workshop about the program and Inventorisation survey.
  • Energy audit study in representative units in each cluster.
  • Identification of energy conservation measures; development and formulation of best operating practices .
  • Post energy audit workshop for MSME units in cluster.
  • Development of handbooks for increasing energy efficiency in MSME sector.
  • Developments of posters.
