The MoEF, GoI was implementing a UNDP/ GEF project on NCSA in India under UNFCCC requirement. The NCSA focused on India’s capacity requirements to implement the three ‘Rio - Conventions’, CBD, UNCCD, UNFCCC. WII was conferred with the responsibility of conducting the assessment for the thematic area of climate change and related issues and to derive an Action Plan for addressing the strengths and gaps related to climate change in India. The final report was submitted to MoEF. The objectives of the project was to assess the capacity strength and deficiencies related to climate change in India and to prepare a thematic profile that will facilitate the prioritization of area for GEF support on capacity building.
