This program was conducted under the Integrated Capacity Strengthening for Clean Development Mechanism (ICS-CDM) Program of the Ministry of Environment, Japan MoEJ. The program included a two-day training workshop followed by two one-day training programs to address the needs of sector-specific stakeholders including potential project developers. Winrock International India (WII) concentrated on the WII-IGES CDM capacity building activities in the southern and western parts of India where a large number of potential CDM projects, renewable energy projects, large industries, and various textile mills were located.
These workshops/training programs opened up opportunities to develop a portfolio of CDM projects in India for offering Certified Emission Reductions (CER) from such projects to the Japanese Investors/CER Buyers.
The activities under the project included:
- One training workshop in Ahmedabad in September 2005 on CDM Capacity Building for project developers in the following sectors:
- Energy efficiency (in large and medium industries such as textiles, aluminum, graphite, cement, etc.)
- Renewable energy such as wind, biomass, solar, etc
- Fuel stitch in the power and transport sectors and other industries, and
- Methane avoidance (MSW projects)
- Two training programs in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad in November 2005 for sector specific project developers on preparation of Project Information Note (PIN) and Project Concept Note (PCN)
