Most rural households in hilly areas in Tamil Nadu use traditional stoves which are inefficient in fuel use and emit smoke inside the kitchen causing various health hazards. Through the “Green Kitchen” project, Sneha Bio Energy sought to establish 750 such kitchens through installation of biomass briquette based improved cooking stoves and boilers in the next five years to cover districts in the midhills of Tamil Nadu as well as extend the program to the plains and high-hill areas of the state that are yet to benefit from improved cooking systems. The Company wanted to avail of clean development mechanism (CDM) benefits for this project.
The CLC division of WII is providing consultancy services for preparation of Project Design Document and the required services for registration of the project as CDM project activity under UNFCCC’s Kyoto Protocol and assisting Sneha Bio Energy in all the stages of the CDM project lifecycle.
