According to Kerala State Sustainable Urban Development Project report Thrisuur Municipal Corporation generates 64 MT of waste everyday. Out of this 5.7 MT is completely biodegradable, originating from meat and vegetable market. Many countries like Sweden, Argentina and China have moved to Municipal Solid Waste (MSW) processing based power generation units during the last two decades and many developmental projects in these countries aim to tap the benefit from the regulated and voluntary carbon emission trading market as well. The present proposal aims at development of a PIN and study the scope, benefit, strengths and threats of establishment of a power plant with 1 MW capacity, which will be run through biodegradable waste. |
