A compilation of case studies "Access to Clean Energy – A Glimpse of Off-grid Projects in India" was published in October 2010. The objective was to showcase a few examples which have surmounted several implementation challenges and have succeeded as stand-alone projects generating electricity using locally available resources/raw materials, making socio-economic development as an integral component and demonstrating their financial viability. The compilation was widely circulated and has been appreciated. As a continuous effort, information on more such successful projects has been accessed and compiled. These case studies could encourage many other organizations to formulate and implement such innovative projects to provide clean energy access for rural people in remote areas.
