The Biofuels industry across the world has the potential to make significant contributions to meet the world’s energy needs. In India, Biofuels can contribute towards achieving the country’s energy security and help reduce the dependence on fossil fuels. However, there are many challenges that face the mainstreaming of biofuels as an alternate fuel. It therefore becomes significant to provide a platform that brings together the opinions and research findings of the world’s specialists that addresses the larger environmental and social impacts of adopting biofuels in our energy mix.
Over the past several years, the Conference organized by Winrock International India has promoted in-depth discussions on various contentious issues related to the biofuels sector. The 7th International Conference scheduled to be held on February 11-12, 2010, at Hotel Le Meridien, New Delhi seeks to address the concerns and aims to push forward the issue of declaration of Biofuels Policy for India. The conference is organized in partnership with Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and International Union for Conservation of Nature and will be designed to consolidate grass root level learning to help informed policy making at the national level and trigger international debate on contentious.
